If you haven't seen the amazingly brutal TKO by Rashad Evans over Chuck Liddell at this weekends event, then get on the ball. Chuck did not cover up the left side of his face whatsoever when he was throwing an uppercut of his own and he paid the ultimate price in a MMA fight. Chuck went stiff instantaneously and kissed the mat. Has Chuck lost fights before? Sure. Has he ever lost in this fashion? Never.
I'm not going to lie to you people. I am not a Rashad fan. He did gain a great amount of respect over the weekend though with that amazing punch, in my eyes and the eyes of others. Dana White's in particular. White said in the post event press conference that Rashad would get the LHW title shot that was promised to Chuck against Forrest Griffin. Most likely at the New Years Eve show.

Two title fights in one night? What is this, WEC? Amazing to say the least, considering they only really have 1 confirmed fight in Big Nog/Mir. With the addition of the Forrest/Rashad fight, the card is shaping up very nicely, just like all of the end of year cards Dana puts on. Shogun is still strongly rumored for the card and his former Chutebox team mate Wanderlei Silva is still a possibility (if the fight with Rampage doesn't pan out for November as I reported last week.)
This fight will be easily marketable as the winner of TUF 1 versus the Winner of TUF 2. While it isn't as much of a draw as Forrest/Liddell would have been, it is a draw nonetheless the for the more casual fan.
Bottom line is, we still have a great end to the year coming. This is probably the best time to be a MMA fan.
On a quick lighter note. Did anyone else catch Mike Goldberg (Goldie) mispronounce the last name of Rousimar Palhares over and over throughout the course of the fight? He must have said "Paul Harris" instead of Palhares at least 8-10 times. Just thought I'd throw that out there. Yet another classic UFC moment by Goldberg.

I did notice he was saying it with a less than hispanic twang to it. I get a kick out of the announcers all the time. Joe Rogan flies off the handle on a regular basis. I dont remember the fight in particular but he referenced a cut over a guys eye saying it looked like a goats vagina. That came out of left field. You would imagine though out of respect for these guys they would explain proper pronunciation if nothing else to pay respect to the many ethnic backgrounds that fight in the UFC. Its easy enough to pronounce Silva I guess. Goldberg will be getting a lot more practice saying his name after what he showed against a very tuff opponent saturday night. Great article. I must ask though. You previously mentioned Rampage-Wandy, in this article you hinted at Rua-Wandy. Any idea which way they are leaning as of right now? I think Rampage needs a bit more time to collect himself personally. Im sure its still premature to know for sure on either fight though. Take care sir.

Wandy/Rampage is the fight that was proposed for November. I guess my wording wasn't clear in this article. I meant that Wandy and Shogun were supposed to fight on this card, but not each other. They're both former Chutebox and I believe they never expressed any interest in fighting each other.

Thanks for clarifying sir. My fault, sometimes I read too fast and assume too much. Rua has been out for a bit, I wonder how the rehab on the knee is going and if it is risking being reinjured. It seems to be a recurring issue for him. Thanks for the insight, and take care sir.

Rogan can be good sometimes but more often than not hes annoying and idiotic. The other guy I cant even remember hes so bad. Tell Dana White to get BAS RUTEN hes a great announcer. "ooooh" "ooooh" ha ha, thats hilarious. But Bas hes smart also because he actually fought and makes good commentary so you understand the fight better.

As much as Goldie messes up during his announcing duties, I can't picture a UFC without him. Same with Rogan and he smoked before every event to come up with such classics as "the cut over his eye looks like a goat's vagina". They add the lighter side to the UFC.
