Well, there is no denying that Alabama played well this weekend between the hedges. Saban and Co. took care of business on some really sloppy defensive play by Georgia in the first half. In hindsight, the 31 points is all that was needed to win the game.
The new AP poll has the Crimson Tide ranked No. 2 in the country. Alabama has come out and played well, but let's be realistic. There is still way too much football to be played to say that the Tide is back to that level.
The media has always wanted Alabama back in the mix. It's good for them because it makes for great headlines on more of a national scale, as anyone that has any knowledge of college football knows what Alabama has done in the past. It goes along with what one of my friends said that fits perfectly with what I am writing.
"Dude, they're in the club."
By the "club," I mean those that have portrayed themselves on a national scale that old and new will always keep to remember them, including the writers.
- B/R Ticket Guide
They have always liked Alabama, and will probably always will. Some of you readers can take this as an article of jealously, which I would not totally deny. This is more than just being envious of my most hated rival. This is about everyone talking how it's going back to the "old days."
When I hear that phrase, it makes me want to vomit. I know my history between Auburn and Alabama. I know what alumni, like my father, and true fans went through during those times. It wasn't to say that Auburn was not successful during those times, but being overshadowed by the Tide was not the greatest feeling in the world.
My father went through school at Auburn never knowing what it felt to beat Alabama while he was a student. My best friend's father went through the same problem. Both my best friend and I were lucky enough never to know defeat to Alabama while we were students. I know that was a special experience to behold.
Now I see fair-weather Auburn fans booing at my team, while Alabama is reveling in the second coming of the Bear.
Know this, fans, both of orange and blue and of crimson and white: There is still way too much football to be played to start panicking or to start celebrating. It's the SEC, and, as we saw last weekend, any team can beat you on any given Saturday.
Auburn is having problems, but is still 4-1 (2-1 in the conference). But that doesn't phase anyone. The media is riding smoothly aboard the Alabama bandwagon.
Most people in the media are happy with it. I, as a die-hard Auburn fan, hate it. I have always hated it when Alabama is the topic of discussion. It shows me the sacrifice the players make at Auburn is not good enough.
This is just a simple rant by an irate Auburn fan who is tired of having his team be cast aside whenever Alabama does something.
I know it will probably never change, but that doesn't mean I have to like it one bit.

With all due respect...what has Auburn done this year to earn the spotlight? Alabama has knocked off two top ten teams already this year. Both games, Alabama was the underdog and both games Alabama dominated. There is hype about the Crimson Tide program, and rightfully so. Auburn isn't being "pushed aside" - they're simply not producing results worthy of a newspaper headline in color. Yeah, I would say that this article is out of envy.
BUT, I will agree with you that the season is far from over. This previous weekend, where 8 Top 25 teams fell, is a perfect example of what can happen in college football. And ya know what? That's the beauty of the sport. Nothing is a guarantee. College football is America's pastime, and it's the jive that keeps us sane considering the rough times our country and it's citizens are going through.
Don't take it so personal. After all, it's just a game.

I've no problem with bama's rank.. Let them be ranked #1 and undefeated coming into the Iron Bowl, auburn either wins and its huge, or loses and its understandable. Georgia earned their spot so far... The real question which is think both AU and Bama fans can agree on is why the hell is USC still in the top 10? Talk about media darlings.

I honestly think the Tide should be #1 in the AP. Two top 10 wins. Who has OK played?

You misspelled faze.

I have to agree with Adam. Bama has really shined when they're the underdog, and the differences Saban has implemented vs. Shula's program are night and day. Maybe Auburn isn't making news because they don't have the legacy?

One question: Why do you write an Alabama article and tag it Auburn football? Just doesn't make sense.
from about 1 month ago
I had it tagged for Alabama, it got changed over in the editing by one of the B/R editors. I need to change it back.

Okay, I was just curious. Tiger, never fear, Auburn will have GameDay again this week as they travel to Nashville. So there's your chance to get back in the spotlight with a win. However, a AU loss will drop them out of everyone's minds.

Its not even about being in the spotlight. Its just a general observation I have seen over the years in being an Auburn fan. Plus I was rather mad at the booing of the players, specifically Chris Todd, in Jordan-Hare this past weekend, and I probably should have written that article first.

Things are back in order in the great state of ALABAMA. I bet Tubberville feels the same way you do.

I had to laugh at the title of your article "AP, Media show bias towards Bama". The only place where Alabama is considered "great" in the media is in the state of Alabama. Outside the state, Bama gets NO respect. As a Bama fan living in Florida, it is hard to get coverage of our games. When Bama losses, they drop further in the AP poll than most other teams. Thanks for the laugh, though. Green looks good on you.

What other team deserves to be ahead of Alabama? Really? Alabama as YET to trail in a game, and we haven't been playing a bunch of sissies either. Alabama has been underdogs against TWO top ten teams and handled them with ease, not to mention going on the road in the SEC and bitch slapping a well coached Arkansas team. Although Arkansas is a sub-par team, you know Bama isn't being over-hyped when the Arkansas gets slapped by Texas this week and their players comment that Texas was a good team, "but no Alabama."
This article was more than ridiculous. Personally, I'm not particularly happy about the high ranking because of all the hype which follows, but please take time to read and analyze what you write before publishing it... this was mere garbage. We are all dumber for having read this so called "article". I wish I could have my 4 minutes back.

i HATE alabama and auburn but i've got to hand it to you, you are dead on.
it really doesn't stand to reason though. the media is about money and atlanta and georgia is a much bigger TV market to give that love.

This has been the case for years, a bunch of thumbsucking punk-bitches that refuse to recognize excellence in one of the top 3 or 4 cfb dynasties in American history. We are all used to it, little darlings like USC walk on water with no regard to "strength of shedule", the Crimson Tide finally gets a coach approaching the caliber of Bear Bryant or Gene Stallings, things get rolling faster than anticipated, with complete Domination of 2 top ten teams, especially Georgia! Can we say, JEALOUSY?
ROLL TIDE BABY!

What "sacrifice by Auburn players" are you addressing? They don't have to play for Auburn.

Newsflash - 'Bama's had two huge wins over ranked opponents on a national stage. If the press was ignoring 'Bama at this point, they'd be insane. You want to find a conspiracy, ask yourself why the coaches voted Missouri, who sat on the sidelines in an off-week, over the Tide, who went to Athens and took the #3 team in the country behind the woodshed. LSU and OK are arguably better that 'Bama, but putting Mizzou ahead of Alabama at this point is absurd.
"Auburn is having problems, but is still 4-1 (2-1 in the conference). But that doesn't phase anyone. The media is riding smoothly aboard the Alabama bandwagon."
Is this a joke? Why would you expect the media to be all over Auburn? You yourself admit they're having problems... they've got major issues on offense, and while their defense is impressive, it hasn't been enough to keep them from dropping a game. Look around - the only 1-loss schools ahead of Auburn are USC, Georgia and Florida. That doesn't seem like a conspiracy to me. (Ok, maybe USC... THERE'S a school that can do no wrong in the media's eyes. People are STILL talking about USC as a national championship contender, despite them loosing to a team that Penn State beat by 31 points. Insane.)

Over ranked? Ill bet my life that Georgia beats the hell out of Auburn _ Just because ive never seen a college football team walk to the line, and then the while team stand up and look to the sideline for the play. The Best thing Auburn could ever do is say goodbye to Tony Franklin. This is the worst, and most boring offense i have seen in YEARS, on ANY LEVEL.
Oh, And just because Oregon ST beat, and I mean beat the sinseless shit out of USC, doesn't mean they are ahead of Auburn. USC should have fallen to 15th or worse. The AP poll will be rigged until there are not one but TWO upsets like that in a season for them. And I honestly cannont wait for that to happen.
Alabama Should be on top. The win against Georgia was decided before Halftime. What does Oklahoma's schedule show? An easy cruse so far... VS Bama's Schedule? The only way I will ever have any respect for a team is if they can beat one of the top 4 SEC teams in the regular season. That being said, just because of the last two years, I have no respect for Ohio ST, just because they couldn't beat t good SEC team to save their lives.
The SEC is the toughest conference in college football. The question was raised last week why any team other than Tennessee has left the south multiple times in the last five seasons to play a game.... the answer is because the SEC doesnt have to. The conference is hard enough to get through in the season. Why Should they have to show up to anyone else? If they knew what football really was, they would play as tough as teh SEC. Then, MAYBE then, the BCS standings would account for more than just a computer.

Well, let me say that Tiger has demonstrated a great deal of self control in his responses. Obviously a confident writer.
Always a pleasure to read your work Tiger.

Tiger , I guess it depends on whose on top that determines who gets the love . For the last 6 years everyone has been kissing Auburn's _____! Now it's our turn , so pucker up sweetie!

How can Alabama still be ranked #2 after 2 narrow victories over Kentucky and Ole Miss? 3 point victory over Kentucky and 4 point victory over Ole Miss... give me a BREAK!!! No top 3 team in the country plays that way, I don't care who you are. If other SEC teams must fall after beating an unranked opponent by a narrow margin, so should their precious Alabama.
You are right on, the media has a huge bias towards Alabama, otherwise they would be ranked anywhere between #4 and #6. Still in the hunt, but not a number 2 team for sure - especially for a team that can't play worth a crap in the second half.
