Game Recap

Football, NFL, AFC North, NFC East, Cleveland Browns, New York Giants, Eli Manning, Game Recap

OK I know some of us may be a tad upset. OK maybe really upset.

We got absolutely smoked last night by the Cleveland Browns and lost our 11 game road winning streak. Eli Manning returned to 2006 form with three interceptions, and every single one of them his fault.

It's really not as bad as it looks though.

Manning showed poise after the game at the podium and took full blame for the INT's and the loss entirely. He knew he had to play better than that to put this team in a position to win.

Plaxico Burress came back and had a decent night pulling in a TD and six catches. Steve Smith, our number three, had a great night with nine catches and 91 yards.

Our running backs were solid AGAIN, as Derrick Ward averaged 10.1 yards per carry with 101 on the night, and Brandon Jacobs scored in his third consecutive game while adding 5.4 yards per carry.

Our defensive backs didn't have the game of their lives but we had to know that the Browns were better than everybody had said they were. The defensive line that gets so much credit put up a big fat goose-egg. Zero. No sacks.

Looking Forward to Next Week

This week we get to take on the San Francisco 49'ers at home and we should return to the old form.

I don't see Manning having a game as bad as his was yesterday, and for all the slack our defensive line is going to take, they could easily break out against San Fran.

We just all need to remember a few important things. We are 4-1 and the defending champs, we have the undivided lead in the NFL's toughest division, and most importantly our rival is without their QB and second RB for four weeks. Doesn't get much better.

  1. Nice article to boost everyone's spirit. Lets just hope Eli does bounce back and his chest injury isn't an issue!

    1. Yeah it's about time we stopped acting like the New York Media! Haha. And I wouldn't be surprised if Manning was in a little pain considering Shaun Rogers is questionably the largest man I have ever seen getting paid over 1 million dollars =]

  2. I'm just worried about our defense. In the 4th quarter of the Bengals game and the entire Browns game they kept two extra blockers and sent three receivers out, and they were very successful. Our blitzes couldnt work and guys were getting open.

Our front four is going to have to pick up the slack. Tuck and Kiwi have been invisible the last three weeks.

    1. Agree fully, the line was overworked and have been a non-factor the last couple of weeks.

    2. That is very true, I just hope it doesn't become the blueprint for how we can be stopped.

And while guys like Kiwi and J-Tuck have been invisible, guys like Fred Robbins have not.

  3. Let's just remember, even with the ugly final score, how close we were to being down 6 with 7 minutes to play. Missed opportunity, but not a reason to panic.

I would have loved to be 7-0 before Pitt/Dallas/Philly, but I'm not particularly scared of Brad Johnson. Or the Eagles. At all.

  4. Giants are still strong. They played their worst game on a night the Browns played their best. It happens.
