NFL, Indianapolis Colts, San Diego Chargers

Both teams are sitting on the edge of their playoff seats, and both need this win very badly. Can they get it? Many think it's all up to this game.

The Indianapolis Colts don't have much of a chance in the AFC South behind the perfect Tennessee Titans. Although they currently are on the rise, they are barely in the playoffs at the moment. This win would be an ideal chance for the team.

The San Diego Chargers are slipping. The thought of them getting into a wildcard position is very small at the moment, unless they go on a run. They sit two games behind the Broncos in the AFC West though, and that could be the way to get up to them. The problem is that the Broncos have won two straight games and play a weak Raiders team this week. Denver's remaining schedule is a combined 27-33 and looks like the Broncos could go to a steady 4-2 ending.

The key part to the Colts' recent success has clearly been Peyton. Let's see why.

  • B/R Ticket Guide

Though he has only had 17 touchdowns, nine interceptions, and averaging around 250 yards per game, he is the perfect person for a fantasy team. Why? He is becoming dependable. In the last three games, he has had at least 240 yards, and has had seven touchdowns with no interceptions. In their last seven games, the team has been 5-2.

The losses? They are only to the strong Packers and the undefeated Titans.

Meanwhile, the Chargers have the worst rated secondary in the league! They average 267 yards given a game. Peyton has a quiet but good day, with no interceptions.

Phillip Rivers currently has four picks in the last two games. During the last game in Pittsburgh, he had no touchdowns either with the two interceptions. Still, that game wasn't exactly in ideal weather. You then have to look at the sacks, which is four sacks in the last two games. The man really can't feel safe.

The Colts have been impressive on D. The secondary is ranked ninth in the league and has shut down other quarterbacks this season.

The problem is that their running defense is 25th worst in the league! It has not been impressive when it comes to stopping running backs, and I truly believe that Tomlinson can burn them. He gets a 100-yard running game. He hasn't had his ideal season at all, and he hopes to have a big game.

Meanwhile, Addai may have a 100-yard game. The Chargers have been inconsistent also, and Joseph is looking better after the injury.

After all this, I still don't see a big scoring game happening. The score will be low. Remember, its a Charger home game and even if Peyton is great under pressure, you still have to watch out for some overwhelming crowd noise.

My Pick: Indianapolis: 17    San Diego: 10

This will be a good Sunday night game, so watch it!

  1. There's definitely a history with these two teams that you didn't really explore. The Chargers have had the Colts number these past few seasons, busting up their bid at a perfect season a few years ago with a blistering Michael Turner run in the RCA Dome, a one-point win and playoff victory last season. Manning has found San Diego to be difficult, and he threw a career-high six INTs against the Chargers.

Granted, times have changed and San Diego has struggled a lot more this season, but I don't see a TD separating these teams. It'll be closer.
