Allsports says Montreal Canadiens Fans Missing the Point on All Star Ballots

NHL, NHL Northeast, Montreal Canadiens

While looking for sports on the web, I came across a few articles that were suggesting the Montreal Canadians fans were loading the ballot box for their players in the upcoming All Star game.

As it stands now, six positions on the Eastern Conference All Star Team are occupied by Canadiens players.

What a load of crap that is, no Crosby or Malkin to be seen, just a bunch of Habs players. It reminds me of the Rory Fitzpatrick fiasco of a couple of years ago. Or was it last year. Anyway, I digress.

The point here is some stupid fans miss the point all together on what the All Star game is about.

Incidents like this just add fuel to the discussion that fan voting should not count for that much when picking the team and an appointed NHL panel should have the final say on who goes.

People who will study the players merit for being there and can truly make a qualified opinion.

Crap like this just makes fans look stupid, so way to go, you Habs fans out there, get some class will you?

Here is a sports news article on the web on the subject posted on NHL.com.

I think this Habs fan is a little misguided although, yes, Montreal is hosting and yes, it is their 100th anniversary, would you still not want to see the BEST players?

  1. Hi Walt,

I 100% agree with you about this. I think there should be a limit of 1 vote per user. The NHL missed the boat big time by allowing everyone to vote as many times as they want.

On a different note, Bleachers Report is, to me at least, a serious site helping potential writers to have a chance to be noticed. This is not a community board where everyone can just use any words the way they want.

I would refrain from using some of the words you used in this "article". If you want to bash and use improper words, you should go to forums and talkback sites.

Try to write concise articles such as analysis, observations, predictions, etc. You do what you want but it would be unfortunate to see bleacherreport.com become a landfill.

Take it for what its worth.

    1. Not a good idea to leave it for the fans to vote. For sure the Habs fans will vote for Habs players. Why should we vote for Crosby or Chara when everytime the touches the puck we boo them out of the building.

If the fans want their players to be in the All Star Game they just have to vote.

the One vote per user won't solve the problem, people will just create different accounts to vote. The best way is for the NHL to have a Committee and let them decide who plays in the All Star Games.

  2. Ok Dominic, thanks. The Bleacher report gets my content from my sports blog

    1. Sorry man... Didn't know that. Maybe bleacher should filter out.

      No hard feelings her ;)

  3. Hey Dominic, no problem buddy, I find it hard sometimes too to edit your own work, cause you don't see the little things. All in all you put great content into the story, even if you are a Hab's fan, lol. I am a die hard "white and blue" fan, so I guess I am a real bugger for abuse. I agree with you as I wrote, that there should be something in place to make the votes truely "All Star". The fan's should get some input, but it should not carry alot of weight into the decision.
Hab's fans are like Leafs fan's, loyal and passionate to their team, but also very good natured with each other. The best place in the world for watching a game is Montreal for the Leafs VS the Canadians. 10,000 Habs fans and 10,000 Leafs fans, cheering, good natured ribbing and then when the game is over, hit St Kitts street together to go for a few drinks. The last time I was there a few years back are whole section went out together after the game. It was a blast. You don't get that in Toronto because most true hockey fans can't get a seat. There all taken by the corporate suits and the atmosphere just is not there.
Anyway do you write your own Blog? If not you could be a guess writer on mine any time you like.
